THE SCI-FI CHANNEL GOES HURRICANE HUNTING [Aug. 28th, 2008|09:00 pm]

How fitting is it that as a hurricane once again potentially sets its sights on New Orleans (and possibly my home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast) that I learn that the Sci-Fi Channel is currently in the process of making a new disaster flick entitled HURRICANE HUNTER? I've yet to find any plot details so I'm just going to have to guess that it involves hurricanes and - this is only a wild guess on my part - hurricane hunters. Now given this is the Sci-Fi Channel more than likely there will be some sort of twist that makes the scenario a bit on the abnormal side. An unprecedented category 8 hurricane? A government weather machine is behind the super storm? The storm is actually a cover for an alien spacecraft? Satanic cult conjuring up an unholy hurricane to wipeout all the Creoles in Louisiana? I know there has to be some sort of hook there. No way I'm willing to believe the Sci-Fi Channel would produce a hurricane movie about an originary hurricane; they just don't roll that way.

Hunting hurricanes will be Daryl Hannah (last seen battling a SHARK SWARM) and Dylan Neal (last seen in a Sci-Fi Channel original movie battling the goatsucker in CHUPACABRA TERROR). George Mendeluk (DESTINATION: INFESTATION, aka ANTS ON A PLANE) directs.

HURRICANE HUNTER was filmed on location in a place no stranger to getting hit by hurricanes: Vancouver, Canada. Yes, that was sarcasm.

Also on the Sci-Fi storm front, NYC: TORNADO TERROR will finally wreak havoc on the network October 4th. That's assuming another tornado doesn't come along and kill some boy scouts again.

Man, those boy scouts, the moment Tim Russert dropped dead 48 hours after that scout camp got walloped by that tornado, never heard mention of them again, did we?

Actually, Dylan Neal was last seen on Lifetime starring as Detective Michael Celluci on Blood Ties, as well as guesting on Stargate Atlantis and Psych. Anyone know a release date yet? I need a Dylan fix!

I mean that it was the last time he was seen in a Sci-Fi Channel original movie.
